This touring exhibition from SITE Exhibitions(Scottish Independent Touring Exhibitions) is an exploration of the design,innovation and transition of videogames from the arcade to the home.This exhibition looks at early arcade game design and development and how concept and marketing reflected the gaming image. It traces the important journey video games made from the arcade to the home througgh the development of home gaming systems such as the Atari 2600, Vectrex and Intellivision through to home computer gaming with the ZX81,Spectrum and Commodore 64.The story continues with the video game market crash in 1983 followed by the home gaming revival by Nintendo in 1985. The exhibition also tells the story of contemporay gaming and exploes themes including: controversy,films,TV and the media,joystick history and handheld games. The exhibition contains videogame art,posters,objects and ephemera as well as the actual consoles and computer systems.There will also be a selection of interactive games to play in the exhibition,including consoles from the 1970's and 80s,handheld games and one of the latest generation of games console - the Xbox 360.
