First established in 1885 at Kilbowie(later Clydebank) the Singer factory grew to employ 16,000 employees and became the largest factory in the world. Singer survived the Clydebank Blitz and during WW2 switched to producing munitions for the war effort.It;s famous 200ft clock tower was demolished in 1963, Singer finally closed in 1980. At one time it seemed that Singer touched the lives of every Clydebank family.This exhibition tells it's story
