Donations & Collection Enquiries

Donations to the museum collection are always welcome and acceptance is considered in line with our Collecting Policy.

We are interested in collecting artefacts that represent the past in West Dunbartonshire, especially relating to how people lived, what they wore, schools, leisure activities and domestic items.

We currently have a collection of more than 800 sewing machines dating from 1850 to the early 1980s. This means that, unfortunately, we will not accept any more sewing machines - unless it is a model that we do not currently possess.  View further information on donating a sewing machine.

When you donate an item to the museum, we will ask you to fill in a museum Object Entry Form which asks for your details and details of the item you wish to donate. This is kept as a permanent record of your donation for future generations. Should you wish to fill in this form before visiting the museum, it is available to download at the bottom of this page.

If you'd like to enquire about donating an item in a little more detail, please contact the Collections Officer on 01389 772 147.
