The museum welcomes visits from groups and schools. Booking forms and details of formal educational activities are available to download below. Risk assessments for schools and activities are also available.
More museum educational activities are being developed, including Victorian handling boxes and educational packs. Please come back and check the site for updates.
Victorians Teachers Resource Pack
A "Victorians" Teachers resource Pack was recently launched at Dalreoch Primary.
This learning pack on the Victorians links to the Curriculum for Excellence, and provides teachers with valuable resources to enable pupils to learn through activities, local photographs and handling materials from the museum collection. In learning about their past, our young people can begin to understand and value their heritage, and be inspired by the ingenuity and aspirations of their ancestors.
The photographs below show Dalreoch P7 pupils posing in museum costumes with the Resource Pack and a photo of their school taken in the Victorian era.
The Victorian Teachers Resource packs are available free to all Primary schools in West Dunbartonshire. Please contact Maeve Dixon on 0141 562 2401 if your school would like to borrow a resource pack.
Dave McKean Retrospective - photographs above
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Culture Section and Art Education Links team invited talented pupils from 3 local Secondary Schools to take part in an exciting and innovative 2 day workshop in the Backdoor Gallery and Clydebank Museum on 28th and 29th May 2009. S2 and S3 pupils worked with professional actor Allison Julia Taudevin and artist Sha Nazir to create comic book artwork.
The pupil’s hard work produced some well crafted and highly imaginative art. Their photographs show a great depth of enquiry into the local environment and the beginnings of a narrative. These fantastic photos were collaboratively worked with and upon by the pupils and culminated in their presentation of their final artwork.
The pupils responded enthusiastically to some challenging situations, working with new media and with pupils from other schools.
