Brief History
By the mid-1970s it was apparent that a library was required in Dalmuir, and a single-storey building was designed for a central position not far from the station. In April, 1975 Dorothy Brand, widow of the late Librarian, Peter Brand, performed the official opening ceremony. This was only three weeks before Local Government re-organisation when Clydebank Burgh ceased to exist. Clydebank District Council administered the library from 1975 to 1996, when West Dunbartonshire Council took over responsibility.
