Photographs and Prints

Bowling Harbour in Late Victorian Times
Bowling Harbour in Late Victorian Times

Over the years considerable numbers of photographs and prints depicting scenes and events relating to this area have been collected. Many donations of material by local people have helped to make these collections an invaluable record of aspects of the area's heritage.

Most of the photographs and prints are in the local studies collections. A few, however, reside with archives items or even museum items where they form part of an archive or part of the documentation of an artefact.

For security reasons, the photographs and prints are not on open access. In the course of time, library users (and, in fact, anybody with access to the internet) will be able to source a photograph in our collections as on-line catalogues become available.

In the meantime, however, it is a question of asking, or contacting a member of the local studies staff at Clydebank or Dumbarton (depending on which area is appropriate) to find out what photographic or other illustrative material is available.
