Development Management
Development Management is responsible for processing and advising on the need for planning and other permissions and monitoring and resolving planning enforcement issues.
Building Standards
The Building Standards system in Scotland is a pre-emptive means of regulating construction to secure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or about buildings, to further the conservation of fuel and power, and to promote sustainable development. It should not be confused with Planning which relates to differing legislation. You may therefore require two types of permissions for many developments.
Forward Planning and Regeneration
Responsible for producing West Dunbartonshire Local Plans, as well as co-ordinating, implementing Town Centre Regeneration, Environmental Improvements & Projects, Countryside Access and the Ranger Service.
Local Plan
West Dunbartonshire Local Plan covering West Dunbartonshire, except for the area around Balloch and Gartocharn which is within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, is now available online. This Plan when adopted will replace the Clydebank Local Plan, the Dumbarton District District Wide Local Plan and the Forth & Clyde Canal Local Plan.
