The Building Standards system in Scotland is a pre-emptive means of regulating construction to secure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or about buildings, to further the conservation of fuel and power, and to promote sustainable development. It should not be confused with Planning which relates to differing legislation. You may therefore require two types of permissions for many developments.
Responsible for producing the West Dunbartonshire Local Plan and Core Path Plan, as well as co-ordinating and implementing Town Centre Regeneration, Environmental Improvements & Projects, Countryside Access and the Ranger Service.
