Building Warrants

A Building Warrant must be obtained before starting any work and it is an offence to begin work without one. Failure to obtain a warrant can result in fines being imposed and the works being removed. It will also lead to difficulties in the selling of property.

A Building Warrant is obtained from the Council’s Building Standards section based at Rosebery Place in Clydebank.See below to download an application form, fee list and guidance notes.

Works that may not require permissions

There are certain works that do not require a Building Warrant but still need to meet the requirements of the Regulations. It is therefore advisable to consult with Building Standards if you are unsure if your proposal falls within the "exempted" classes of works. Other permissions e.g. Planning Permission and any other Legal Consents may be required. For specific enquiries please contact us at the address below.

Change in Fees for Letters of Comfort as of 28th April 2008 - £250.00 (estimated value of works up to £10,000) and £75.00 for re-inspection.   Any works exceeding this value will use warrant fee table.
