Alexandria town centre is located a few miles south of Loch Lomond and to the west of the River Leven. It operates as a local centre for the surrounding Vale of Leven population (25000). Alexandria Heart of the Vale Town Centre Action Plan was produced in 2004. This identified a number of projects required to regenerate the town centre over a ten year period. Since then work has concentrated on shopfront and canopy improvements in Main Street, retail, traffic and streetscape studies and a masterplan for key sites.
The Alexandria Regeneration Forum was established in 2006 and is formed of key stakeholders and Council partner organizations. The role of the Forum is to facilitate the social, physical and economic regeneration of Alexandria town centre, providing a mechanism to facilitate business and community involvement in the production of a town centre masterplan.
