In 2009/10 Clydebank was awarded £1.825 million from the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Regeneration Fund to undertake public realm improvements on the south bank of the canal between Kilbowie Road and Argyll Road. The works included relocation of the bandstand, new paving, street furniture, lighting, soft landscaping and interpretative sculptures. The scheme was design by a team led by Broadway Malyan. The improvements undertaken, which were completed in March 2011, further enhance Clydebank’s new modern identity and strengthen its presence on the wider canal network. The works also mirror the quality space created on the north canal bank, providing better definition to the town square and creating a flexible space for markets and events.
