Every funeral service is a unique, individual event and to make sure your personal needs are met, Bereavement Services will:
- Ensure full liaison with Funeral Directors
- Prepare the interment lair in accordance with requirements
- Endeavour to comply with the requested date and time for interment
- Provide staff on site at the time of the time of the interment
- Provide advice on arranging a memorial headstone
- Reinstate the lair as soon as possible following interment
- Maintain the cemetery grounds to a high standard
- Ensure that all lair owners comply with the Management Rules for Council Cemeteries
- Ensure the cemeteries are publicly accessible in line with opening hours
- Ensure that the cemeteries are maintained in a safe condition
On Arrival
On arrival at the cemetery, the funeral cortege will be met by a member of Council staff who will direct the cortege to the correct interment lair.
After the Interment
The cemetery staff will carry out all works required to complete the interment and reinstate the lair, this including laying any floral tributes on top of the lair.
