What is an equality impact assessment (EIA)?
The Equality and Human Right Commission states that: “An equality impact assessment is a tool that helps public authorities make sure their policies and the ways they carry out their functions, do what they are intended to do and for everybody.” They help them to meet the requirements of the current equality duties and the forthcoming public sector duty in 2011.
