Service Information

The Acquired Brain Injury Team is based in the West Dunbartonshire Council Social Work Office at 6-14 Bridge St, Dumbarton. The aim of the service is to develop community based integrative assessment and rehabilitation for brain injured individuals and their families. To facilitate individuals smooth transition between hospital and community where necessary by improving services and the knowledge and understanding of ABI among service users, carers and professionals. Our team consists of both a social work and psychology component which is advantageous to everyone as it ensures that a holistic care package is put in place for each client.

We believe in partnership working and link in with services such as Headway and Momentum.

Not only do we offer support to our clients, but we encourage that they support each other and a peer support group called the BIEN group has become well established and has many active members who are keen to develop opportunities for each other.

We support anyone who lives within West Dunbartonshire between the ages of 16-65 years old and who has received a brain injury. The referral pathway is easy and we take referrals from hospitals, GP’s, family members or from clients themselves.  You can download the referral form from here.
