The Community Unit supports the Council's community care objectives by engaging with groups of older people,
people with physical disability, learning disability, sensory impairment, brain injury, mental health, carers, parent
carers and disabled children.
Community Work assists citizen's concerned about community care to come together collectively, share and
clarify their issues, organise themselves and help them tackle their identified issues and achieve change.
Training networking and partnership working are important features of this work. Community Work enables
organised community care groups to participate as equal partners in planning services.
