The Chief Executive’s Department provides a range of high quality services to the community, elected members, partners and staff within West Dunbartonshirewith the overall aim of improving the quality of life of all those living and working in West Dunbartonshire. As a department we support Council Services, provide advice on effective consultation, develop robust Quality and Improvement programmes, lead on Community Planning, and provide a Corporate Communications service dedicated to promoting the work of West Dunbartonshire Council. Our Audit Team provides assurances to those charged with Governance. Risk and Performance provides a wide and diverse range of services including the development and monitoring of key Council and Partnership strategies, the provision of guidance and support to departments and the Community Planning Partnership on strategic planning and performance management, leadership on shared services, statutory health and safety compliance, data and research, guidance and advice, business risk management, contingency planning, crisis management and continuity of business.

After a recent restructure, the Chief Executive’s Department comprises:
- The Department of Internal Audit and the Risk and Performance Section which both provide a compact specialist service within the organisation and also for the local community.
- The Corporate Communications section which consists of a small team dedicated to promoting the work of West Dunbartonshire Council so that residents, media and staff are kept fully informed of all new developments.
- The Community Planning and Policy Section which delivers a wide range of streamlined services to the people of West Dunbartonshire.
The Departmental Plan sets out the corporate themes, priorities and objectives for 2011/15, the action plan that has been developed to deliver these objectives for 11/12, together with the resources required for successful implementation.
