Statutory Performance Indicators

Each year all Councils are required by law to collect information about their performance. These Statutory Performance Indicators (SPIs) are collected by all 32 councils across Scotland. These are checked and audited by Audit Scotland to ensure all Councils report correct and consistent data.

This page has links to the Councils Performance Management System - which generates the most up-to-date information available on our statutory performance indicators.

Explanation of the Gauge

The example gauge is taken from the Adult Social Work indicator for the average number of days taken to provide community care services from first identification of need to first service provision.

  • This gauge reads from 0-60 - this is based on the time taken to provide this service.  All 32 Councils across Scotland are used to get the range - in this case the top authority can make the provision in 3 days but it can take up to 60 days for another authority.

  • The green threshold is based on the top 10 authorities - in this case the top ten authorities can make this provision in up to 12 days

  • The red threshold is based on the bottom 10 authorities - in this case the 10 slowest authorities will take between 25 and 60 days to make the provision.

  • The amber threshold is the remaining 12 authorities who in this case average between 12 and 25 days

  • Within West Dunbartonshire we currently take 22 days to provide this service
