If you can’t get to the polling station for the General Election on Thursday 6 May and a postal vote isn’t practical, it may be possible to get a proxy vote. This means that you nominate another person to cast your vote on your behalf. Your proxy can vote in person or by post.
It is now too late to apply for an ordinary proxy vote at this election. However, in cases of unforeseen illness, it may be possible to obtain an emergency proxy vote up until 5pm on polling day, 6 May. Contact the Electoral Registration Office on freephone 0800 980 0471 for more information.
