Residents in Alexandria will be able to access a comprehensive range of Council information and services on their doorstep when the new One Stop Shop opens in the heart of the Vale next month.
Alexandria Housing Office, Mitchell Way will close on Wednesday, 8th February for approximately six weeks to allow the property to be upgraded into a £62,000 exciting new dedicated customer contact facility.
The office currently only offers a limited housing information and cash collection service. The new purpose built One Stop Shop will provide an open bright environment where residents can use self serve kiosks with internet access, to access Council services such as benefits, housing, council tax, environmental issues and planning. In addition, highly skilled staff will be on hand to assist with various requests, and confidential meeting rooms will be installed to allow residents to speak to staff in private.
The decision to upgrade Alexandria Housing Office to a One Stop Shop came after consulting with our members of our Citizens Panel in 2011 when residents said they would like information and access to Council services delivered from local offices. The Alexandria One Stop will be the first of three in West Dunbartonshire as part of the Council’s £200,000investment to improve customer services.
Councillor Craig McLaughlin, Convenor of Corporate Services said, “I’m delighted that we are about to see the opening of the first of three planned One Stop Shops across West Dunbartonshire. This new service is a radical departure from how we currently deliver existing services to residents, and will give them for the first time one place where they can go to carry out a comprehensive range of services and get information on everything the Council does – all under one roof. We’ve responded to the community’s requests and are now delivering on a promise to make Council information as convenient as possible in a pleasant, modern environment.
“The service will open in March and will give residents the opportunity to access the same knowledge and efficient services they would get by visiting our Council headquarters but in a much more convenient location to them.”
