Princess Royal Trust, Carers of West Dunbartonshire are delighted after raising £2,663 at a charity golf event donated by The Cameron House hotel.
The event last week, at the hotel’s magnificent Carrick golf course included seven teams made up of representatives from local businesses, partners and local community groups. The golfers were then treated to a delicious buffet lunch also provided on the day by the Claret Jug restaurant.
Carers of West Dunbartonshire is a local voluntary organisation which provides practical and emotional support to unpaid carers. Currently there are over 10,000 unpaid carers living in West Dunbartonshire with many of them suffering financially, physically and emotionally as a result of their caring role.
Kim McNab, Centre Manager said: “I would like to thank the Cameron House for their generosity in donating this event. I would like to thank all the teams for taking part and especially Rev Ian Miller for his high spirits throughout the day and also his role of playing auctioneer.
She added: “It was a fabulous sum raised on the day and the money will be used to fund carers events and carers support groups.”
Each team paid £300 green fees and took part in a raffle, lucky dip and an auction on the day. Auctioneer on the day was the highly entertaining Rev Ian Miller.
Rev Miller said: “It was a great day, the golf was not totally of Tiger Woods standard but then the company made up for it. I was delighted to wield the auctioneers gavel and wrest a few extra pounds for a most worthy cause. The hospitality offered to us by Cameron House at the Carrick Golf Course was truly exceptional."
The winning team on the day was Foster Care Association with prizes for the longest shot and nearest the pin and again these prizes were also kindly donated by the Carrick.
The seven teams who took part were David Elliott, Monitoring Officer for Carers Services, West Dunbartonshire Council, x 2 teams, Dumbarton Golf club, Clydebank Rotary, Foster Care Association, The Danwood Group and Rev Ian Miller and friends.
