The Council has made significant progress in addressing the Efficient Government agenda as set by the Scottish Government in June 2004.
All Scottish Councils are required to produce an annual Efficiency Statement which reports on efficiencies achieved by continually reviewing service provision to ensure that high quality services are provided to meet the objectives of the Corporate Plan.
The 2007/2008 Efficiency Statement shows that the Council was successful in achieving £4.4m of cashable savings during 2007/8 and achieved a favourable performance in 14 of the 21 National Efficiency Measures.
