Monday 14th June 2010

West Dunbartonshire’s three lucky Ambassadors for the 2010/2014 Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony in New Delhi, attended their orientation day at Glasgow City Halls yesterday, Thursday June 10, and were introduced to the full creative team from UNSPUN who will be putting the show together for the Flag Handover to Glasgow 2014.

Gavin Hasting, OBE, delivered a real rabble rousing speech that whipped the lucky 348 mass cast crew into an excited frenzy and introduced the Choreographers and Costume Designers to paint a clear picture of what the mass cast crew members are letting themselves in for.

Gavin Hastings explained:“All details are top secret to maximise the wow factor at the Handover Ceremony so no-one breathe a word, but relish every moment of this as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity!”

The Handover Ceremony in New Dehli will be the first public statement to the world that Glasgow will become the next Host City in 2014.

The Handover Ceremony, which is part of the Closing Ceremony, is the event that concludes the Commonwealth Games. It has a more festival feel in contrast to the formality of the Opening Ceremony.
