St Peter the Apostle High School, Clydebank v Bishopbriggs Academy

29th April 2010

The Scottish Schools’ Under-16 Boys’ Football Shield Final team from St Peter the Apostle High School, Clydebank has reached the final of the Scottish Shield. The final will be played on Friday evening in Strathclyde Homes Stadium, Dumbarton this Friday 30th April  with the Kick-off at 7.00pm

West Dunbartonshire Council’s Executive Director for Education, Terry Lanagan says:

“For a school football team to reach a Scottish Final in the first year of the school’s existence is a remarkable achievement. To do so when the team has no “home” pitch because the school’s new playing fields are still under construction is nothing short of amazing. “

“Whatever the result on Friday, I would like to offer my personal congratulations to the under-16 boys’ football team from St Peter the Apostle High School, Clydebank and to their coach for having reached this final against all the odds.”

Amazingly, the team is also still in the running for two other trophies: the Glasgow Cup and the Glasgow League.

Why not come along on Friday evening to support one of our local schools? Several hundred supporters are expected from the school and all other support will be extremely welcome at what promises to be a splendid occasion.
