Thousands of spectators expected for 2011 Scottish Pipe Band Championships

Thousands of spectators are expected to descend on Dumbarton’s Levengrove Park this Saturday to watch the prestigious 2011 Scottish Pipe Band Championships – one of the biggest Pipe Band competitions in the world.

The family event takes place against the stunning backdrop of Dumbarton Rock and Castle, on the banks of the River Clyde and last year attracted more than 25,000 people from all over Scotland, the UK and as far as America.

140 Pipe Bands from across the UK and abroad are expected to compete at this year’s event, which also includes a Highland Dance competition, fun fair, food and drink areas, a children’s entertainment zone and trade stalls selling a vast range of items.

Entry to the event is free and it will run from 9am to 5.30pm.
