Time is running out to register to vote!

Tuesday 13th April

With just one week left to register to vote at the UK General Election on 6 May, West Dunbartonshire Council’s Election Roadshow has been out and about to spread the message to local people and give advice on how to register.

The Roadshow visited Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch today to talk to visitors and shoppers about the voting process and to remind them they need to register by Tuesday 20 April if they want to vote at the General Election.

“If your name is not already on the electoral register, you have until Tuesday 20 April to register to vote,” warns Returning Officer for West Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire Council Chief Executive, David McMillan. “If you are not registered, you won’t be able to vote, and it’s vital that the people of West Dunbartonshire make use of their right to vote.”

“Everyone should register to vote, and there’s still time,” said David Thomson, Electoral Registration Officer. “Registering takes only minutes, and means you can have a say in who represents you in the UK Parliament. This could be a close election so there is every reason for people to get involved.

“Simply print off a form from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or call  0800 3 280 280. You can also find forms to apply for a postal vote if that is more convenient for you than going to your local polling station on 6 May. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.”
