Storm damage update

Below you will find further information on the scale of damage from Tuesday's storm and the Council's response.

  • The Council’s Housing team have set up an emergency response team to work through numerous incidents and issues that have arisen following Tuesday’s storm. The priority at present is to secure properties that have been damaged and securely house any residents who have been forced out of their properties. Presently approximately 20 families have been offered temporary housing in Council properties or local B&Bs and hotels. Staff have been asked to work out of hours and through the weekend so that the back-log can be cleared as quickly as possible. All non emergency repairs have been postponed until this has happened.

  • Balloch Country Park – over a hundred trees felled

  • Dumbarton Cemetery – significant damage to the site including approximately 100 headstones damaged

  • Greenspace teams have been called in to work this weekend to try and clear the backlog as quickly as possible

  • There has been an overwhelming demand for council assistance for repairs and clean up. This has been from both private owners and council tenants. The Contact Centre answered 1500 calls in an average of 3 minutes with a longest wait of 13 minutes.

The Council is responding to numerous storm damage and flooding issues
