Join in the 2012 Festive Fun as High Streets are lit up for Christmas
Dumbarton and Alexandria High Streets will soon be lit up for the festive season, with the ever-popular Christmas switch-on events set to take place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November.
Alexandria's wonderful festive lights will be officially
switched on at 4.30pm on Saturday 24th November by our
special guest 'Santa Claus', who has taken time out of his busy
schedule to visit the Vale of Leven.
Before the big switch-on, the Your Radio team will host a live
radio roadshow in the heart of Alexandria from noon until 4:30pm,
packed with great music and a host of live performances.
Amongst the popular children's rides you may spot Santa's helper
'Freddie the Elf'. He will be on the High Street collecting
letters for Santa and giving away balloon models and special treats
to the children.
The Festive season then gets underway in Dumbarton on Sunday,
25th November when the lights are switched on at
4.30pm.
To keep the crowds entertained and get everybody in the
Christmas spirit, the Council has lined up a fantastic array of
music and dance to add that special sparkle - and of course a visit
from the guest of honour, Santa himself.
From noon, Your Radio will get the party started on the roadshow
stage with a talented line up of performers and local acts.
Along with a variety of children's rides, Santa's helper
'Freddie the Elf' will also be on hand giving away special
treats to the children and collecting letters to Santa.
Councillor David McBride, Chairman of West Dunbartonshire
Leisure said: "As always the Christmas lights switch-on events in
Dumbarton and Alexandria will be a fantastic day out for families -
they can expect a wide array of entertainment for children and
adults alike. I'd urge local people to come along and get into the
Christmas spirit!"
