West Dunbartonshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, have made the above named Order by reason of emergency major works due to a road subsidence on Kilbowie Road, Clydebank. This Order supersedes two previous emergency works notices already issued for these works.

The Order makes it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the following sections of road (except for vehicles taking local access where permitted by signs, emergency service vehicles and vehicles engaged in authorised road works):-

  • A8014 Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, between A82 Great Western Road and A810 Glasgow Road with main works between Milton Douglas Road and Cleddans Road.
  • Milton Douglas Road, Clydebank, between Kilbowie Road and Roman Road.
  • Gavins Road (access link), Clydebank, between Milton Douglas Road & Gavins Road (main carriageway).

The Order also makes it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load on the following sections of road:-

  • A810 Dumbarton Road, Clydebank, between Great Western Road & Glasgow Road on both sides.
  • A810 Glasgow Road, Clydebank, between Dumbarton Rd & Duntocher Road on both sides.

The restrictions will apply twenty four hours a day in part or whole only where indicated by signs between 0001 hours on 13 February 2017 and 2359 hours on 25 February 2018.

Emergency Services to note that access past the main works may not be possible. Access will be maximised from one or other side of closure. Bus routes will be diverted as indicated on affected bus stops.

Further Details

The extent and duration of these works remain uncertain but it is hoped that they can be complete by May 2017. Waiting and loading restrictions will be kept to a minimum, only as required to maintain traffic flow. Road closures will only be applied as necessary to maintain traffic flow and will change within scope and period of this order to maximise access but this depends on progress of works – the contractor will notify and inform as much as possible regarding ongoing changes or removal of restrictions.

The main diversion route will be signed as required including A810 Dumbarton / Glasgow / Duntocher Roads, A809 Drymen Road (Bearsden), A739 Switchback Road (Glasgow) and A82 Great Western Road / Mountblow Rd junction. Further local diversions will also be signed but subject to periodic changes, will be unsuitable for HGVs and will not allow for through traffic. Expect delays in vicinity of works and on all diversion routes at peak times, including Kilbowie / Hardgate roundabouts, A810 Glasgow Rd, Mountblow Junction, A82, etc. Through traffic using both A810 / A82 are advised to use alternative routes wherever possible.
