Schools
The Council is responsible for the provision of nursery, primary and secondary schools in the area and we are committed to making our education services as accessible as possible. West Dunbartonshire is also committed to the Integrated Community Schools initiative, which is a radical strategy designed to promote social inclusion and raise education standards in Scotland's schools.
Community Learning & Development
Learning doesn't stop at the school gates; no matter what age we are, there are always new skills to learn and, in recognition of the important role the Local Authority plays in supporting lifelong learning, the Council has set up a Community Learning and Development (CL&D) team.
Community Literacies
Did you know that one if five people living in Scotland need help with everyday reading, writing, spelling or number skills? The Community Literacy and Numeracy team, or CLAN, as they are better known, are here to help. They offer free support to any adults (16+) living or working in West Dunbartonshire that have reached a turning point in their life and want to make a change.
Library Learning Centres
Libraries have always been "learning centres" but the development of Information Technology has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase. computers are available for use in all local libraries and a range of training is available. Ask at your local branch for information about currently available training.
Outdoor Education and Active Schools
Outdoor education can be a challenging and exciting way in which to develop new skills and
