Three secondary schools, 9 primary schools and 6 early years centres in West Dunbartonshire are registered with UNICEF to become Rights Respecting Schools.
The RRSA standards relate to each of 4 aspects of school life:
Leadership and Management for embedding the values of the UNCRC in the life of the school
Knowledge and understanding of the UNCRC
Rights Respecting Classrooms models of behaviour and language
Pupil participation when pupils actively participate in decision-making throughout the school
Within the RRSA there are 2 levels:
Level 1 recognises that a school has made good progress towards all four aspects so that the values and principles are at least partially embedded in the life of the school
Level 2 acknowledges that these principles are fully embedded and have become part of the way the school operates
