As Executive Director of Educational Services, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the department’s home page.
The department is responsible for the delivery of all educational services to the people of West Dunbartonshire. This includes:
- pre-school, primary, secondary and special education;
- community learning and development;
- libraries;
- cultural services.
Centrally based staff are located on the second floor of Garshake Road headquarters as well as other buildings throughout the Council, including:
- Rosebery Place, Clydebank (Quality Improvement Service; Pre-school and Childcare);
- Poplar Road, Dumbarton (Lifelong Learning and the Schools Estate Unit);
- Carleith Primary School (Psychological Services).
We are keen to work in partnership with our communities and are happy to provide information on any issues relating to our service.
As a small education authority, we are proud of our achievements and of the many examples of good practice which have received national and international recognition. However, we do not underestimate the challenges faced by the department as we aim for continuous improvement in the quality of services which we provide to the people of West Dunbartonshire.
The department aims to maximise educational opportunities for learners of all ages and all abilities. We value parental support and involvement in their children’s learning. We encourage adults to take up the many interesting opportunities on offer for lifelong learning.
We have an inclusive approach to education and want to enable everyone to be successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.
