Gold Award for Schools' Wind Band
WDC Schools' Wind Band hit a high note when they received a Gold Award at the National Concert Bands Scottish Festival on Sunday 30th October.
Their conductor Chris Mitchell said " This is a fabulous result for our band as we have a lot of young players in it this year. We were competing against very well established bands from other councils which just goes to show that dedication and hard work pays off in the end!"
The wind band is made up of players from the council's 5 secondary schools and this year has grown to over 50 players.
We await the results from other regional heats across the UK to see if they will be invited to take part at the UK Final in the Royal Academy of Music, London.
