Careers help at Clydebank High's Library

The Careers Room which is part of CHS Library is well stocked with a variety of college and university prospectuses, pamphlets, leaflets, books, CD Roms and annual careers publications. Here you will find all you need to know about Further and Higher Education, gap years, voluntary work placements, apprenticeships, and all kinds of job information from job descriptions to where to look for current vacancies. There are also several books to help you get the job you want, which focus on filling in application forms, writing CVs, and performing well in interviews.

The Careers Library is colour co-ordinated using the Careers Scotland cataloguing scheme, in order to make books, magazines, leaflets and prospectuses easier to find. The colours are as follows:

Blue: Finding out about Careers

Green : Applying for Work and Training

Yellow: Going to University

Red: Going to College

Orange: Taking a Year Out

S2 pupils can use the Careers Library before they make their option choices for Standard Grade, ensuring they know the correct subjects necessary for future careers.

S4,S5 and S6 pupils can use the Careers Library in order to find out about upcoming apprenticeships, applying for college or university, and making well researched Intermediate or Higher subject choices. S5 and S6 pupils applying for university courses through UCAS do so in workshops held in the library after school by Mr Rae and Mrs Crawford. UCAS applications in the school are now all submitted electronically through the UCAS apply website.

Mrs Crawford and our Careers Adviser are always on hand to help out with any enquiries and can also direct you to relevant careers websites.
