considered vital in its role of supporting learning and teaching to all members of the school community. The Library supports and enhances the academic and pastoral curriculum and has an important role in promoting policies of equality, inclusion and raising achievement.

Use of the Library can encourage pupils to become independent learners and value learning with and from others by providing a stimulating, challenging and supportive environment, encouraging all pupils to attain their true potential.

The Library can enable pupils to access a range of resources in a variety of formats, traditional and electronic, and where appropriate, the equipment to access them.

The Library can enable pupils to apply information skills applicable to these resources.
A series of lessons are presented by the Librarian to all incoming first year pupils. These skills are then reinforced through booked subject classes, or, where help is needed throughout the school day by the Librarian.
