Environmental Health Emergency Callout

• The Environmental Health Section operates a 24-hour emergency callout service for certain specified emergency situations as detailed below. To access this service, please contact West Dunbartonshire Council’s out-of-hours number on 0800 197 1004.   

• Food Hazard warnings from the Food Standards Agency.

• Food Poisoning notifications from the Health Boards.

• Major Water Incidents notified by Scottish Water.

• Major Health and Safety at Work incidents e.g. serious injury.

• Pest Control: In some circumstances certain Pest Control issues may be considered an emergency e.g. where wasps/bees have entered the living area of a house in significant numbers or where rats/mice have entered the living area of a house or the householder could be considered a vulnerable person and is extremely distressed.

• Disinfection following blood/body fluid loss in houses where the house will remain occupied.

• Chemical fumes entering domestic premises (other than gas).

• Burst pipes in empty properties causing flooding to adjoining premises.

• Noise from audible intruder alarms.
