Anti Social Behaviour Task Force

The Anti Social Behaviour Task Force now incorporates our existing anti social behaviour services.

The introduction of the Task Force brings all our anti social behaviour services together under one ‘badge’ to provide a better and more efficient service to our tenants and residents.

The existing services have been strengthened by the addition of our Noise Enforcement Team, and the deployment of our mobile CCTV van, both of which will contribute to creating a better environment for everyone.

Anti Social Behaviour Strategy

One of the principle requirements of the Anti Social Behaviour, Etc (Scotland) Act 2004 is for the local authority and the Chief Constable of the Police and appropriate partners to jointly prepare an Anti Social Behaviour Strategy outlining how anti social behaviour will be tackled locally. The Anti Social Behaviour Strategy outlines how we will tackle anti social behaviour throughout West Dunbartonshire.

By establishing this strategy, our commitment is to:

·           Reduce anti social behaviour in West Dunbartonshire.

·           Work to prevent anti social behaviour.

·           Protect communities.

·           Improve quality of life.

·           Empower communities.

·           Better co-ordinate Council and Partner services.

·           Provide positive activities for young people.

·           Integrate our services.

·           Increase use of legislative powers.

·           Provide a rapid response to the effect of anti social behaviour in West Dunbartonshire.

·           Communicate a “no acceptance” message of anti social behaviour.

·           Assign clear responsibility for dealing with anti social behaviour.

·           Provide education and diversionary activities to break offending behaviour.

In addition, the Anti Social Behaviour Task Force is represented on West Dunbartonshire Community Safety Partnership. The Community Safety Partnership is a multi-agency forum where all partner agencies who have a role in improving Community Safety in West Dunbartonshire meet. The forum includes officers from West Dunbartonshire Council, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue and Greater Glasgow Health Board among others.

Within the structures of the Community Strategic Safety Partnership a group of officers from many relevant organisations meet regularly to review anti-social behaviour hotspots and issues in West Dunbartonshire and to plan joined up action to tackle it - this group is known as the Anti Social Behaviour Task Group.

All our services can be contacted by telephoning our Anti Social Behaviour Helpline on 01389 772048, or you can email us at asist@west-dunbarton.gov.uk.

If you wish to report a complaint to our Noise Enforcement Team, please contact your local police office, who will pass the call to our officers to attend.
