During 2010/11 the Council received over 180 referrals from the public and other Government agencies.
We identified that £175,457.52 was fraudulently claimed in the West Dunbartonshire area.
This money could have been better spent on other services.
We have taken the following action to date:
18 cases were reported to the Procurator Fiscal
6 have been successfully prosecuted so far
12 claimants’ were offered and accepted Administrative Cautions as an alternative to prosecution.
10 claimants’ were offered and accepted an Administrative Penalty as an alternative to prosecution.
