Homelessness in West Dunbartonshire

 

Homelessness is something that happens to many ordinary people all over Scotland. In 2007/08 over 50,000 households presented as homeless to local authorities in Scotland. In West Dunbartonshire in 2008/09 2144 households presented as homeless to the Council.

 

In West Dunbartonshire, the Council have a legal duty to help homeless people. This is done firstly by interviewing them and assessing their housing situation and, secondly, by offering them permanent or temporary accommodation. 

 

West Dunbartonshire’s Homelessness Information Guide explains what to do if you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It explains how we will assist you and your homeless application.

Office hours

 

  • Monday - Friday 8.30am – 4.15pm

 

Homeless Services operate an emergency service for anyone made homeless outside office hours. This freephone number is 0800 197 1004. Out of office hours emergency cases are dealt with within 30 minutes.
