What is general needs housing?
Most of our properties are general needs housing. These houses have not been set aside for specific groups of people who require support nor do they have special design features.
What is amenity housing?
Amenity housing is properties designed to meet the needs of people with specific needs.
Amenity Housing will have some or all of the following features
- No stairs inside
- Raised electric sockets and lowered switches
- Handrails in the house
- Lever handled taps
- Slip resistant flooring in the kitchen and bathroom
What is sheltered housing?
Sheltered housing is accommodation designed to meet the needs of older people and some of the properties may have the features listed under amenity housing. The main difference sheltered and amenity housing is that sheltered housing has a built in community alarm, houses are grouped together and some complexes have shared facilities where residents can socialise.
