How much time would I have to give to being a Panel Member?
Being a Panel Member means being committed and giving a lot of your time. As a Panel member you will be expected to do a maximum of two Hearing sessions a month, normally during the day. You will be given three months notice of the Hearings dates. Preparation for Hearings, which involves reading all the reports, can take several hours. You will also be expected to attend local training evenings, usually about eight per year.
You will also be expected to attend special training days which have been arranged for each local authority area. Visits to establishments, such as children's homes, will also be arranged and you will be asked to attend, if possible.
