The duty to promote disability equality
The Disability Equality Scheme presents the Council's approach to the delivery of its services in a way which meets disabled people's needs and priorities, and their right to equality of opportunity. The scheme has been developed from the Disability Equality Strategy 2005 which has been extended to respond to the requirements of new legislation. It is part of a framework of policies that address equality issues.
