West Dunbartonshire's Gypsy Traveller Strategy

Gypsy Traveller Strategy

West Dunbartonshire Council has developed a Gypsy/Traveller Strategy via its Corporate Gypsy/Traveller Forum and in consultation with Gypsies and Travellers. The strategy aims to develop a holistic approach to the provision of services to Gypsies and Travellers in West Dunbartonshire and covers the period 2008-2011. The strategy also provides information on how the Council will deal with unauthorised encampments.

The Council will also work with Community Planning Partners and other local authorities as appropriate. There is a detailed action plan and further consultation with Gypsies and Travellers will form a key part of the implementation of this strategy.

The Strategy is separate from our Equality Scheme 2009-12 which included the former race, gender and disability schemes.  To view the Equality Scheme 2009-12 click here.

In 2009, an update on progress with the Gypsy Traveller Strategy 2008-11 was produced, including a revised Action Plan.  To view the updated Action Plan click here.

The Gypsy Traveller Strategy 2008-11 includes the Procedures for Dealing with Unauthorised Encampments as an appendix.  The Strategy is referred to within the Equality Scheme 2009-12 and will be reviewed in 2011-2.
