Dumbarton Burgh Hall

The Burgh Hall is sited at 17 Castle Street in the heart of Dumbarton town Centre. The Hall is located around 200m from Dumbarton Central train station and less than 100 metres from Dumbarton High Street, through which all Dumbarton bus routes pass. The Burgh Hall has also a car park capacity for around 60 cars.

The Burgh Hall opened in 1984. It contains several function rooms, these include a main hall, small hall, two meeting rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The main hall can accommodate up to 300 people. The small hall can accommodate up to 40 people and the meeting rooms can hold 10 people in each. The kitchen has been used on numerous occasions to cater for over 200 people.

The Burgh Hall has a p.a. system with an induction loop. There is removable staging, which is used for various concerts, events and presentations. There is adequate seating and tables to accommodate the capacities of all function rooms at once. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, hobs, fridge, two sinks, plate warmer and a hydro-boil to supply constant boiling water.

The Burgh Hall takes bookings from voluntary, public sector and commercial organisations. The majority of its users are with voluntary organisations. These voluntary organisations include senior citizen groups, such as the senior citizen bowlers, disability groups, such as the West Dumbarton Deaf Forum and children’s organisations such as the Modern Amateur Theatre Society.

There are Council bookings from Social Work, Community Planning and other departmental meetings. The hall is also used by commercial organisations for meetings, conferences and open days.

The Burgh Hall has a minimum of 16 bookings per week and is averaging just over 19 bookings in the year 2002/2003.
