The Denny Civic Theatre is located in St. Mary's Way in Dumbarton town centre. The facility can be used as a theatre, concert hall or conference venue, having fixed, raked seating with a capacity of three hundred and forty seats. The venue stages a variety of music, dance, drama and variety performances staged mainly by local groups and companies.
Adjacent to Dumbarton town centre, the venue is served by a number of bus services and has a limited number of off-street parking spaces as well as being a 5 minute walk from Dumbarton Central station. The Denny has disabled access and an induction loop system in the main theatre. Customers with disabilities can contact us prior to coming to the theatre to discuss any elements of their visit to ensure a successful theatre experience.
The Denny Civic Theatre has a large reception area suitable for bar or refreshments. Applicants requiring bar facilities must apply for this service in advance of their production or show. A soft drinks vending service is also available in this area.
The venue has a 7.6 metre by 6.1 metre flat stage / performance area with proscenium arch. Standard Stage lighting and a sound system is available but we recommend that you enhance your event by arranging some technical support for appropriate sound quality and lighting effects.
Backstage there are two dressing rooms that can accommodate fourteen persons, a quick-change room and a makeup room that accommodates six persons. All dressing rooms are accessed by stairs and are therefore not suitable for performers in wheelchairs. We encourage larger groups to consider booking additional dressing room space by utilizing the facilities of the Concorde Community Centre which adjoins the Theatre.
Amongst the various items of technical equipment the venue also has a grand piano in the main theatre.
