West-Dunbartonshire libraries were delighted to welcome local author Joe Donnelly to Dumbarton and Gavinburn Library to talk to Primary 6 & 7 children from St Peter’s and Gavinburn primary schools. Children were fascinated to hear about Joe’s first instalment of his adventure trilogy, ‘
Jack Flint and the Redthorn Sword’. They were particularly excited to learn that the local areas and Celtic mythology around Dumbarton helped to inspire him to create the magical worlds that Jack Flint becomes entangled in. Joe told the children that it was his love of reading adventure stories such as ‘Treasure Island’ and H.G Wells novels that motivated him to start writing for children.
