Scottish Cycle Training Scheme

In 2006, an evaluation of the Scottish Cycle Training Scheme (SCTS) was conducted. As a result, a new resource pack was developed and introduced into schools this year. The SCTS pack is the support resource for cycle training and is now available to schools through the Road Safety Team.

The materials contained within the resource pack are designed to cover not only cycle skills and knowledge required for using your bike as a vehicle, but also a range of other associated issues such as environmental topics and risks and responsibilities. The resource also looks at the wider issues of cycling, e.g. for sport, as part of your job, for commuting, for leisure.

Cycle Training is managed by the Road Safety Team in Primary Schools within West Dunbartonshire as the resources are funded by Road Safety Scotland.

More information is available on the SCTS section of the Road Safety Scotland website.
