Venues must also continue to be able to safely accommodate those attending, with appropriate physical distancing and other safety measures remaining in place. As per Scottish Government guidelines from 28th January 2022 the celebrant must be at least 1 metre socially distanced from the couple and guests. The couple must also be at least 1 metre socially distanced from their guests.
In order to protect the public and our staff West Dunbartonshire Council will continue to honour 1 metre social distancing in all of its buildings. This effects any ceremonies taking place within council buildings. Ceremonies at Municipal Buildings will have a maximum capacity of 30 persons (this number includes any children, the registrar and the photographer)
Face coverings still remain compulsory to be worn at all times for all guests attending ceremonies at indoor premises. All guests attending an indoor marriage or civil partnership service in a place of worship or wedding venue or Registration office will be required by law to wear a face covering at all times. The couple will be exempt from wearing a face mask for the duration of the ceremony only. The person accompanying the Bride/Groom down the aisle will be exempt while walking down the aisle but must wear a face covering when they reach their seat. Children under the age of 12 are not required to wear a face covering.
