On Monday, January 4, the First Minister confirmed that remote learning will continue for the remainder of January and schools/ELCCs will remain closed until at least Monday, February 1. This step is one of a range of new restrictions being introduced which are similar to the lockdown of March and follow concerns about a new, more transmissible strain of Coronavirus (Covid 19). The Scottish Government will review and confirm on 18 January whether pupils can return to school in February, and updates will be provided as soon as further information is received.
The new measures apply to all nursery, primary and secondary schools, however, children who are considered vulnerable and those whose parents or carers are key workers will not be affected and will be contacted by their schools directly on arrangements. Normal transport provision will be in place for those pupils who usually access it. For information on which roles are regarded as key workers, please visit the Scottish Government website.
