West Dunbartonshire residents are being encouraged to highlight Council employees who have gone above and beyond in their duties in 2021.

Residents can nominate employees who have gone the extra mile to help them or benefit the local community for an Employee Recognition Award.

Nominations open on Monday 6 December.

The annual event, sponsored by CCG, recognises the hard work and dedication of employees who regularly deliver excellent services.

This year, the awards will take place on 22 February, with those shortlisted invited to attend a virtual ceremony and celebratory lunch hosted by Council Chief Executive Joyce White.

Those employees who were shortlisted for the event last year, postponed due to Covid-19, will also be invited to attend the event.

All winners will then be invited to attend a private, in person, lunch with Joyce and members of the senior team at a later date.

Nomination categories include Team of the Year, Team Leader of the Year, Employee of the Year, Young Ambassador of the Year and the Communities Award.

Councillor Ian Dickson, Convener of Corporate Services, said: “Every day, fantastic work takes place across our services and without the commitment, enthusiasm and care shown by our employees, it would simply not be possible. Throughout the pandemic, employees have gone above and beyond to continue to provide vital services and we want you to shout about those who deserve recognition more than ever.

“The Employee Recognition Awards are about recognising those efforts and letting our employees know how valued they are. Many of these people are unsung heroes, who work tirelessly under the radar, making improvements for residents, so it is important for us to say thank you.”

Councillor Iain McLaren, Vice Convener of Corporate Services, said: “I’d urge anyone who has been grateful for the hard work of an employee to please consider nominating that person so we can properly celebrate them.

“We know we have many dedicated employees who are a credit to the Council in so many different areas, from home care visits to street cleaning, and these members of staff often go above and beyond what is expected.”

To make a nomination, please visit and fill in the online form.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 21 January.

The event is being sponsored by CCG, Barr, CBC Stone, Konica Minolta and Capito.
