Staff and children at St Ronan’s Early Learning and Childcare Centre are celebrating after the centre was rated very good in all areas during an unannounced inspection.
Inspectors highlighted the commitment of the senior leadership team, supported by caring staff to provide positive and continuous improvement for children within the centre.
During the inspection the positive relationships with parents was clear with staff recognising the importance of working in partnership with families, and strongly encouraging parents to stay and play sessions and meeting to keep them informed of their child’s progress.
Children were assessed having fun in well-furnished, comfortable and well maintained areas with access to quiet and calm spaces in playrooms which support their wellbeing.
Inspectors were impressed with the layout of the centre which includes open-ended playroom allowing children to easily move between indoor play to the outside space.
In feedback from parents and carers the centre was praised for its communications with children and keeping families well informed of their child’s learning and progress. Comments included "staff have done an excellent job with my child's learning." "the nursery does a great job. Any issues are identified and support is put in place quickly."
Inspectors found the service was well led by the head teacher, principal teacher and lead early learning and childcare officer with staff saying they felt very supported by the senior leadership team and staff worked closely with senior management to provide positive outcomes for children and families.

Positive feedback from parents and carers on how they value the centre is a great boost for all the staff. It’s great to see so many of our ELCCs achieving the highest awards during their inspections, which is testament to our dedicated workforce who are committed to the welfare and education of children under their care.”
Councillor John Millar, Vice Chair of Educational Services, said: “This is a great first inspection for St Ronan’s ELCC staff with inspectors highlighting the positive feedback from children and families who are clearly benefiting from the new centre. Children are clearly well settled and enjoy the internal play areas and equipment. It is also pleasing to hear children are benefiting from the large outdoor space at the centre to have fun and broaden their learning. Congratulations to the Head Teacher and all the staff for this positive inspection report.”
