West Dunbartonshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, have made the above named Order by reason of facilitating bridge repair works on the Lomond Bridge on A811 Lomond Road, Balloch.

The Order will make it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the following sections of road (except for vehicles taking local access where permitted by signs or under the direction of the authorised traffic management contractor, emergency service vehicles, timetabled public bus services where permitted by signs and vehicles engaged in authorised road occupation) between 0001 hours on Sunday, 13 October 2019 and 2359 hours on Sunday, 7 March 2021*:- 

*The estimated completion date is now the 31 May 2021.  This date has been extended due to delay caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic and could be extended again if necessary.  Any other changes to this date will be updated on which is available for public view.

Further Details and Diversion Routes

Restrictions will only be implemented when required and where indicated by signs rather than the full extent and times of this order. They will be kept to an absolute minimum, being applied periodically if and as necessary to facilitate works and maintain traffic flow and access.

Note that the closure of Balloch Road and its extent will only be utilised as and where required to ensure traffic flow is maintained safely, to prevent any inappropriate traffic diversions and will not apply to public bus services. This part of the closure will be subject to ongoing review in light of conditions being experienced. The closure of the A811 will allow access to property and side roads either side of the bridge.

Vehicular access to off road property will be made available only where possible from one or other end of the restrictions. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Bus diversions will be notified on affected bus stops.

Diversion Routes

Diversion routes will involve the following roads in both directions and as indicated by signs:- A811 Lomond Road, A82(T) Alexandria By Pass from Stoneymollan to Lomondgate Roundabouts, A813 Stirling Road, Main Street and Carrochan Road between Lomondgate and Carrochan Roundabouts, Tullichewan Road, Dalvait Road, Old Luss Road and Balloch Road. Further local diversions on other surrounding roads may also be indicated.
